Senior Director, Value, Evidence and Outcomes
Dr. Covington has a public health background and brings deep expertise in prevention strategies, strategic thinking, outcomes research, pharmacoeconomics, health policy, and customer engagement. She serves as the strategic lead in the development and operationalization of opportunities with clients pertaining to RWE strategy, evidence generation, epidemiology initiatives, value and evidence gap assessments, scientific publications and other relevant initiatives. Melva has spent 18 years within the pharmaceutical industry providing leadership to both global and U.S. teams in the area of health outcomes, medical affairs, clinical operations, and corporate business. Her contributions include developing and executing real-world data analyses, patient registries, customer engagement models, and clinical recruitment strategies.
She has been a leader and mentor to others across therapeutic areas, including metabolic outcomes, oncology, rare diseases, aging, immunology, infectious disease, and maternal and child health. Prior to her work in pharma, Melva served as an epidemiologist and team leader for payer groups at CIGNA Healthcare and AmeriChoice (now a part of UnitedHealthcare), as well as on the faculty of NY Medical College and Emory School of Public Health. She has also served as a research scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Melva earned a PhD and Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA from Johnson School at Cornell University, and a Bachelor’s degree in politics and economics from The Catholic University of America.
