Technology continues to evolve faster than ever. That’s the case with the recent news that OpenAI has introduced a new series of artificial intelligence models they are calling their o1 series, which are designed to spend more time ‘reasoning’ before responding.
The project, codenamed “strawberry” by developers because previous models could not correctly identify how many ‘r’s were in the word strawberry, has significantly enhanced its capabilities in complex tasks such as science, coding, and mathematics. There are currently two o1 models, o1-Preview and o1-mini-Preview, the latter as the name suggests is smaller but faster and better at tasks such as coding and debugging.
That’s a lot to take in, but the reasoning capabilities of o1 are fascinating to think about and the implications for life science brands and even marketers.
