Enhancing Medical Strategies Through Effective Literature Surveillance

Members from EVERSANA’s Medical Affairs (MA) team conducted a comprehensive survey to understand the needs of MA professionals regarding literature surveillance, reviews and alerts. They presented their findings at the DIA Medical Affairs and Scientific Communications Forum in March 2025.

Their survey was distributed to MA professionals via LinkedIn and covered various topics related to literature alerts, medical content development and publication support. The findings highlight the importance of literature surveillance in tracking knowledge gaps, gaining competitive intelligence and supporting publication planning, medical training and value proposition development.

Key findings from the survey revealed literature surveillance is essential for strategic MA tactics. However, there is variability in how often literature surveillance is conducted and which MA teams are responsible. Additionally, AI-enabled solutions are underutilized but perceived as highly valuable in enhancing surveillance and ensuring timely insights.
