Takeaways from 2025 Global Digital Transformation Summit
Recently, I spoke at the 2025 Global Digital Transformation Summit. The event featured executives from leading companies across the intersection of technology and innovation, and we talked about the evolving role of AI in business. The energy was palpable, and the conversations were refreshingly candid.
I left with three observations on where we are today – and what’s ahead.
- AI’s Acceleration Is Unrelenting—And It’s Only Getting Smarter
2024 was the year of Generative AI. This year, we’re seeing the rise of Agentic AI—systems that don’t just generate content but can take autonomous actions based on goals. The pace of innovation is staggering, and organizations that aren’t actively experimenting risk falling behind.
- Pilots Are Everywhere, But Impact Is Scarce
Most companies are dabbling in AI—running pilots, testing use cases—but very few are seeing meaningful ROI. Why? Because they’re treating AI like a bolt-on tool rather than a catalyst for transformation. Without a clear path to scale, these efforts remain stuck in the sandbox.
- The Real Gap Isn’t Technology—It’s Mindset
The biggest disconnect I see is between expectations and outcomes. Too many organizations are chasing AI for cost savings or efficiency alone. Instead, they should be rethinking entire workflows, customer experiences, and business models. And perhaps most critically, they’re not investing enough in building AI fluency across their workforce. Without the right skills and mindset, even the best tech won’t deliver.
AI isn’t just another IT project—it’s a leadership imperative. The companies that win will be those that embed AI into their DNA, not just their dashboards.
